Hardware may seem like a small part of the design process, but in many cases the hardware style, size, finish, or placement can have an impact on the overall design.  Hardware can also be the cherry on top that makes that banana split just the way you like it.  Hardware is an important part of your overall design.  Some people can decide what they want all at one meeting and other times people need to schedule a second meeting to come back and decide on the hardware.  Make sure if at all possible that you touch and feel the hardware you want to order.
